This is an early hand painted iron dial and comes from an 18th century longcase/grandfather clock. Circa 1770 – 1800. Dating source: Painted Clocks 1770-1870 by Brian Loomes. Published 1994.
As you can see there is only modest deterioration to the finish, some small knocks and some wear. Overall the decorative paintwork is in very good order with the detail in the arch being very well preserved. The hands are in good condition.
