Vintage Commercial Wall Clock By Leipzig VEB, 1960s
£335
Description
Something a bit special here. This piece was made in Leipzig, East Germany in the 1960s. I believe the Leipzig VEB (Volkseigener Betrieb) or (People’s workforce) clocks were items made to specialist requirements. This model had the remains of a blast-proof mechanism so was presumably in a sensitive location.
The larger than normal steel case is in very good overall condition with negligible wear. The dial has aged to a light ivory colour and there are only modest signs of ageing. The hands show a little wear. The glass shows a little wear commensurate with its age.
Overall diameter 39.5 cm, depth 7 cm.
Fitted with a high quality battery quartz mechanism that is fully guaranteed for twelve months. Requires one AA battery which is supplied with the clock.
