Description
Suitcase typewriter Type: SM-3 manufactured in 1953 in Germany by Olympia Werke West GMBH Wilhelmshaven. A beautiful and extremely rare typewriter, it is one of the earliest SM 3 models – still with a small shift key – only produced in 1953. The item is covered with an unusual green varnish that has a suede structure. An interesting fact is the signature label with the words “Made in Germany Western Zone”, not “West Germany”.
The machine is visually operational, very good condition, damage to the suitcase is visible in the photos. Machines manufactured by Olimpia were characterized by an unusual design and great attention to detail. The items were hand-made in short series. The machine can be an interesting addition as a flagship technical monument from the mid-twentieth century.
