Description
This intricately carved Small Huali wood Kang Table from c1880 is a collector’s dream. Crafted of traditional jointed flush corner leg kang table, it was made during the late Qing period and features a unique ‘ghost face’ pattern in the grain. The table can be used as both a decorative piece or to serve its original function – as an item to place small items such as cups and saucers upon.
It is said that these tables were traditionally used in special ceremonies and royal court events due to their stylish craftsmanship and beautiful design elements, which have been preserved throughout the centuries. This antique piece offers an opportunity to own a part of Chinese history and should be treasured by collectors for its fine details alone. Usually this type of table would have been made from Hongmu wood, making this example far rarer than others.
The table has been cleaned and waxed retaining its original patina and age related marks and wear.
