Fully restored SOLID teak wood gate leg table with unusual four leg design. Most gate leg tables have the standard four legs with two additional swinging arms that support the drop leaf panels, however this table only has the four allowing for more seats/legroom. During the restoration process the table started to tell its story. Handmade (by someone that knew carpentry) in solid teak wood, the creator poured love into this table the wooden swing hinges under the drop leafs would have required skill and patience, the table had many different purposes in its life, vice marks on the underneath suggest time in a workshop, the many (and I mean many) fountain pen ink stains on the table top tells me one of the owners was a prolific letter writer, the geometric scoring from cutting card and the big burn marks from cooking pots detail it was used in the kitchen. This table has had a hard life and worked hard and I was mindful not to erase the charming war wounds (pls note I dont get sentimental over ink, scorch, burn marks and these have gone) which give this table such character.
