Fabulous Mid Century Metamorphic Table/Footstool

Description
We were very lucky to find this gorgeous little metamorphic table and footstool combination. The workmanship, design and functionality are all superb, as can readily be seen on the pictures. The wood appears to be afromosia – slightly darker than a lot of a teak that was being used at the time – and the dovetail joints and curved edges really show the maker’s attention to detail.
The formica top features iconic mid-century Cityscape design by Jacqueline Groag, Royal Designer for Industry. As her prolific designs were used extensively, we have thus far been unable to find out who made the table.
Flip it over, and – we can vouch for it – it’s a really comfy footstool upholstered in a lovely teal tweed – two for the price of one! Again, we can’t confirm whether it’s the original upholstery, but it’s in good vintage condition.
We love this quirky piece – we’d keep it ourselves, if it wasn’t for our cat having a penchant for tweed!
