This elegant executive chair was designed by Erik Kirkegaard for the Danish manufactory Høng Stolefabrik during the 1960s. It is model number 43. The frame is made of precious rosewood. The A-shaped legs are Kirkegaard’s business card and hallmark. The comfortable seat with the backrest is upholstered with synthetic leather in a warm brown color. The chair has ergonomic proportions, which affects the comfort when using it. Carved armrests flow smoothly into the backrest. The chair impresses with its form and minimalism. The manufacturer’s signature is under the seat.

Erik Kirkegaard is mainly known for designing chairs in a minimalist aesthetic. They conquered the world of Scandinavian design in the 1950s and 1960s. Characteristic features of Erik Kirkegaard’s designs are carved cow horn armrests and angular A-shaped legs. He designed mainly for Høng Stolefabrik, located on the Danish island of Zealand. The most popular chair no. 49 from 1956 resembles Hans Wegner’s Round Chair from 1949. Kirkegaard also had a cameo with Glostrup Møbelfabrik, but most of the furniture on the market is Høng production.

The chair is in original vintage condition. It has normal traces of age. The seat is at a height of 46 cm.
