Mid-Century Umberto Mascagni Dining Chairs
£966
Description
Six dining chairs designed by Umberto Mascagni of Bologna in the 1950s. The main body frame is solid European wood, covered in cream-colored grained vinyl and anodized aluminum. The legs are also covered in black vinyl. Slight signs of aging as shown in the photos.
These chairs are an interesting example of mid-century Italian design.
In 1952 Umberto Mascagni created a new way of producing furniture using new materials such as PVC and anodized aluminium.
This was provocative considering the market at the time.
His furniture was sold at Harrod’s, London 1952-1955.
