History
Thomas Alva Edison played with light bulbs at the end of the 19th century, but in Poland the first glowing miracle on production lines appeared only in 1907. At that time, the first light bulb was produced at the Warsaw Incandescent Lamp Factory at 7 Nowowiejska Street. During the First World War, production was discontinued to resume after military operations. However, as early as 1921, the joint stock company of Fabryki Electric Lamps Cyrkon was bought by the Hungarian concern Tungsram. The company quickly establishes cooperation with Philips. Light bulb and lamp factories are multiplying in Poland: Helios in Katowice (burned down in 1937), and Polux in Lviv.
During World War II, Polish plants were destroyed and plundered. After the war, the industry was rebuilding itself. In 1948, the state-owned enterprise Zakłady Wytwórcze Lamp Elektrycznych is established in the capital. In 1969, the A-23 Lighting Apparatus in Wilkasy near Giżycko changed its name to ZAOS Lighting Equipment Factory and this is where the history of our lamp begins.
