19th Century Oak Hall Bench Settle
£354
Description
A lovely storage piece for a hallway or entrance area, this has plenty of space under the seat for all of those items which need to be put away close to the door, such as boots, dog leads and backpacks. With a gorgeous colour and patina to the oak, it is attractively carved with ornate panels to the front, a patterned back rail and deep fretwork on the wonderfully shaped arms, along with beautifully decorative external brass hinges at either end. This will make a great addition to any home.
Dating to circa 1890, this is made of oak and originates from the UK.
In good age related condition, there are worn chips to the front corners which are not obtrusive and are consistent with the character of long use. The seat panel has some cracking to the back recessed edge, which means that it will not bear a heavy weight towards the back of the seat, although it will not prevent sitting to the front to put on boots or shoes, and it does not affect the use of the storage lid.
