Afromosia Mid Century Floating Coffee Table By John Herbert For A Younger

Description
We’re excited to list this rare and super stylish piece by John Herbert for A Younger Furniture, made in the late 1950s.
A long rectangle with distinctive upturned ends, it has a floating design, with an elevated solid afromosia top, creating a look that was more common in Scandinavia, often attributed to makers like Kofod Larsen, than in Britain at the time. Younger focused on quality rather than quantity, so there aren’t many of these around.
We stripped back the old layer of varnish and carefully restored the richness of the grain using several layers of Osmo. It is in good vintage condition, with one corner slowing slight separation between the lengths of wood, as pictured.
Length 160cm
width 45cm
Height 48.5cm
