Antique Large Scrub Top Pine Refectory Dining Table
£995
Description
This is a substantial antique country table dating to the 19th century.
It is an extremely heavy, solid and rustic piece of country furniture which could be used in a dining room or as a kitchen table.
The table was used for years by the same family and has seen an active life, the top becoming nicely worn and scrubbed over the years.
Made of solid pine the table is set on huge baluster legs joined with stretchers.
The top is constructed from three very thick planks of pine and finished with bread board ends. The whole thing is pegged or dowelled together, very simply made and quite rustic.
The table top can be lifted off for transportation, it sits on metal rods set into each leg.
The wood has a scrubbed finish which has aged over time, the table was stored in a dry barn for many years before we acquired it.
CONDITION
The table is generally in good solid structural condition with many marks of age and use to the wood.
The wood is very aged looking and the legs has ‘silvered’ in places. One edge of the table top has a rough looking ‘live’ edge.
To either end of the table there are various holes where the wooden dowels have worn down, the children of the family who owned it have pushed a couple of piece of chalk into the holes, these have sat in place for over twenty years.
