Description
The Heron adjustable desk lamp was designed by Isao Hosoe for the Norwegian manufacturer Luxo in 1994. Isao Hosoe has designed several lamp models that are inspired by bird species. However, it is Heron that is most recognizable due to not only its visual qualities but also its functionality. It has a mechanism that keeps the lampshade always parallel to the desk. It can also rotate around its own axis due to the wheels on the base. The nylon body is reinforced with fiberglass and aluminum. A two-stage switch located on the body allows you to dim the light. A visually original design with unconventional aesthetics will certainly fit perfectly into many arrangements. The attractiveness of the design is emphasized by its strong, metallic, navy blue color.
Isao Hosoe (1942 – 2015) was a Japanese engineer, designer and lecturer. In 1965, he specialized in aeronautical and space engineering. After graduation, he moved from Tokyo to Milan to work with Giò Ponti and Alberto Rosselli. In 1985, he founded his own studio, Isao Hosoe Design. Awarded several Compasso d’Oro ADI and many other awards and distinctions around the world. He worked for some of the world’s largest companies. He brought innovations in all areas of industrial design. He also instilled Japanese culture into the Italian design process.
Luxo is a Norwegian lamp manufacturer. The company was established in 1934. 3 years later, Luxo founder Jac Jacobsen invented the Luxo L-1 lamp, which was the inspiration for the animated short film Luxo Jr. from 1986 by Pixar Animation Studios.
This lamp is in original vintage condition. It has minor signs of use due to age. Requires a bulb with a maximum power of 50W.
