Description
Exceptional and rare set of 8 “Panton S Chairs” chairs designed by Verner Panton and produced by Herman Miller, authentic from 1971.
These chairs represent a timeless icon in the world of design and are steeped in history.
The Panton Chair, conceived by the visionary designer Verner Panton in 1960, was the first chair in the world printed in a single unit thanks to the revolutionary injection molding technique.
Since 1967, Panton’s goal was to create a plastic chair that was comfortable, versatile and stackable.
Today, these chairs are a symbol of a bygone era and continue to embody the innovative and daring aesthetics of the 1960s.
Their presence in prestigious collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Design Museum in London, the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin and the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen, attests to their importance in the design landscape.
The set is in excellent condition, with an extraordinary patina that tells the story of the past years. In purple color, the chairs have small signs of aging that give them a unique character as in photographs.
A pair may be slightly lighter due to exposure to the sun, easily restored, and only one shows a slight peeling in a leg, almost imperceptible as a whole that does not compromise its stability.
