Pair of Black Leather Wingback Armchairs
£1,320
Description
A highly desirable pair of black leather armchairs with the character of long wear to the upholstery, but without tears. Of the type imagined for a gentlemen’s club, they are heavy, high quality pieces, with ebonised mahogany legs, wing backs and a comfortable sprung seat. Lovely to have a matching pair, the leather on one is slightly more worn than the other, but both have the patina of time and a gorgeous fade to the hide in places, such as the tactile ends of the arms. The inside of one of the back legs on each are incised with a number, B8416 on one and B8412 on the other. These chairs will make a fantastic addition to a library, den or study, looking fabulous either side of a fireplace or occasional table.
Dating to the early 20th century, these are made of mahogany and leather, and originate from the UK.
In good age related condition, these have the distressed wear, cracking and patina of the original leather which has been in use for over 100 years, but the leather is not torn, giving a desirable look which is still comfortable and functional.
