Large Japanese Dragon Vase circa 1890

Description
Large pottery Dragon Vase from the Meiji period circa 1890. The red clay body of the vase is enwrapped by a scaly dragon stalking a toad. A blackened glaze knocks back the red/terracotta colour, lending the piece a wonderful patina. Close inspection reveals one or two chips to the scales, claws and teeth of the dragon but as a whole it is in great condition for its age. A fabulous sculptural floor standing piece that would work well with both a contemporary or more traditional interior style.
Height 62cm x Width (variable & approx) 35cm
